摘要
作为杰出哲学家、哲学史家、翻译家的贺麟,其翻译思想、翻译实践与严复、梁启超、王国维、陈康颇有共通之处,而在继承之中又有所发扬。通过比较与参照,可以勾稽、归纳贺麟译学之大义。在贺麟等人看来,通过翻译而引入外来的"新知",这仅仅是手段而非目的;翻译的意义与价值在于"华化西学""使西洋学问中国化",从而谋求"西洋哲学中国化"与"中国新哲学之建立"。出于这一目的,故在翻译对象上,既要精审选择原书,又要注重翻译与研究并行。在译文标准上,贺麟一方面继承了严复的"信达雅"说,另一方面又创造性地提出"艺术工力"说;在术语译名上,贺麟既充分重视"因袭",而又审慎选择"自创"。贺麟的翻译思想是可资借鉴的,而其翻译实践也是可资师法的。
He Lin, the outstanding philosopher, historian of philosophy, translator, had a lot in common with Yan Fu, Liang Qichao, Wang Guowei, Chen Kang in his translation thought and translation practice, and carried for- ward them in the inheritance. Through comparision and reference, the gist of He Lin＇s translatology can be conclu- ded. In He Lin＇s opinion, ＂new knowledge＂ could be introduced to China by translation, but it was only a means rather than aim. The meaning and value of translation tie in sinicizing the western leaning and knowledge, so as to seek the sinicization of western philosophy and the establishment of the new Chinese philosophy. For this purpose, as for the object of translation, He Lin accurately chose the original book faithfulness,expressiveness and elegance and parallelled translation and research as well. As for the criteria of translation, He Lin inherited Yan Fu＇s ideas of ＂faithfulness,expressiveness and elegance＂ ,and creatively put forward the ＂artistic skill＂. As for the translation of terminology , He Lin paid full attention to the achievements of the predecessors, and he also accurately created new terms. In a word, He Lin＇ s translation thoughts are useful for reference, and his translation practice is worth learn- ing.
