Ebola hemorrhagic fever (EHF) is a severe syndrome with rapid progression and high mortality, manifesting hyperpyrexia, shock, abnormal blood coagulation mechanism, acute liver and kidney injury. As the disease progresses, patients may show some symptoms of central nervous system, such as convulsion, hearing vision loss, headache, dizziness, anorexia, depression, sleep-disorder, anxiety and irritability. In contrast with other symptoms, the neuropsychiatric symptoms tend to emerge gradually in the end-stage on critical patients or the survivors, suggesting the severe prognosis and bad quality of life. Therefore, it is of great necessity for neurologists to learn more about the pathology and symptoms induced by Ebola virus. In this review, the neuropsychiatric symptoms and the pathology were discussed.
