摘要
库切一直秉承"社会的良知",主张小说家应该"对还未浮出水面的那些事情"负有责任,坚持"设身处地地去为另一个生命着想"。长期以来,库切以其深刻而犀利的笔触,在所创作的一系列后殖民文学作品中,彰显了他对生态环境不断遭到破坏的忧愤及其对所有生物命运的悲悯和关怀。作为后殖民动物书写的核心经典之一,《动物的生命》通过批驳以理性为根基的"物种主义"霸权对动物的戕害、揭露人类对动物野蛮的"食肉"霸权及展示动物的生命和权益遭到践踏给库切所带来的痛苦,蕴含着库切反对人对动物的殖民霸权行径、尊重一切生命的生态伦理观。
For a long time, J. M. Coetzee, while adhering to his ＂social conscience＂, has been advocating that novel- ists should ＂be responsible for those things that have not yet surfaced＂ and insisting on that ＂we can think ourselves into the being of another＂. Therefore, Coetzee, through his profound and sharp writing, expressed his anger and worry to the constant destruction of our ecological environment as well as his compassion and concern for the fate of all living species in his series of posteolonial works. As one of the literary cannons of Postcolonial Zoocritieal writing, The Lives of Ani- mals, through criticizing mankind＇s speciesism hegemony towards animals which bases on the doctrines of western rational- ity, exposing mankind＇s savage carnivory hegemony towards animals as well as displaying Coetzee＇s pain brought by the fact that animal＇s lives and rights are trampled, contains Coetzee＇s ecological ethics of being against human being＇s hegemony on animals and respecting all forms of lives.
