摘要 呼吸病学和危重病学素有渊源,早在20世纪30~50年代,脊髓灰质炎肆虐欧美大陆,大量因脊髓灰质炎而导致呼吸肌麻痹的患者需要机械通气救治,限于当时已用于临床的铁肺(即箱式通气机)和受过训练的医护人员匮乏,不得不将大量的患者集中在特殊的病区救治,以便充分利用有限的人力、物力资源,以提高医疗护理质量.
