摘要
功能学派认为,翻译目的决定了翻译策略的选择,而翻译策略的选用对翻译目的的有效实现有重要影响。译著《天演论》是严复的第一部译作,也是厚译翻译的代表作品。在该译作中,严复结合当时的国情需要、社会发展需要,充分采用厚译的翻译策略,如重新划分章节、加注下标和按语等方式,通过有效翻译宣传保种救国的思想。译者面对源语文本时,根据不同的翻译目的,灵活采用厚译的翻译策略,将翻译理论与实践有效结合,不失为一种较好的翻译思路和理念。
Functional school believes that the translation purposes determine the employment of the translation strategies,and the strategies also play an important role on the realization of the translation purposes. Evolution ＆ Ethics is Yan Fu＇s first Translation and also the representative works of thick translation. In the translation,accord-ing to the need of the country’s situation and social development,Yan Fu fully used the strategy of thick translation such as re division of the chapter,filling subscript and note to propagandize the thought of protecting and saving the nation through the effective translation. In the face of the source text and according to the different purposes of translation,the translator flexibly used the strategy of thick translation,combined translation theory and practice ef-fectively,which can be regarded as a good translation idea and concept.
