1Since the first round of the Six-Party Talks on the North Korean nuclear issue in 2003, China and the United States have reiterated the importance of the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula and the role of the Six-Party Talks as the only feasible way to reach a peaceful settlement of the issue at both presidential meetings and the China-U.S. Strategic and Economic Dialogue.
