摘要
文章从理论和实践两方面阐述了目前广泛采用的叙词标引方法存在的不足之处，预示键词标引将有较大发展。对键词标引和叙词标引做了各方面的比较，认为叙词标引的优势表现在手工检索，键词标引的优势表现在计算机检索，特别是联机检索中。为了弥补这两方面的不足，作者提出了改进措施。
The paper expostulates the deficiencies existing in tile descriptor indexing method extensively adopted at present from both the theoretical and the practi- cal aspects, thereby envisaging that keyword indexing will find a greater de- velopment. It compares the former with the latter in every aspect believing that the superiority of the former finds expression in manual retrieval and that of the latter in machine retrieval, especially the on-line retrieval. In order to make up for the deficiencies of both, measures for their improvement are pro- posed,
