摘要
文章系统地讨论了文献数据库的数据压缩方法。作者根据具体文献库的压缩情况统计，分析了数据压缩的效率，说明了压缩技术对于用计算机进行情报处理、特别是微型机的应用具有现实意义。文章指出，提高压缩率是为了提高经济效益，必须对存贮空间和处理速度两个方面进行权衡，才能采用好的压缩策略。
This paper discusses systematically the methods of data compression of the document data-base. On the basis of the statistics of the specific procedures of its compression, the paper analyzes the efficiency of data compression which shows that such a technology has practical significance for computerized information processing especially in the use of microcomputers. To increase economic benefits, we have to raise the compression efficiency. A suitable compression strategy could only be taken by weighing storage space and processing time.
