摘要
美国作家塞林格的长篇小说《麦田里的守望者》被称为美国 2 0世纪文学的“现代经典”。人们对其毁誉不一的主要原因在于对小说主人公霍尔顿的评价出现歧异。作为富家子弟的霍尔顿 ,拒绝进入伪善的成人世界 ,试图建立有益于孩子们健康成长的精神环境 :做麦田里的守望者。这个人物象征地表达了依然坚守人文立场的美国作家对物化文明的拒斥。小说所揭示的物质富裕与精神匮乏的失衡 ,对于当代社会 ,具有深刻的启迪价值。
The novel the Catcher in the Rye Field written by American writer Salinger has been called 'Modern Classic' of American literature in 20 Century. But people hold different view in the comment of the novel, some appraise it and others criticize it which mainly caused by the different opinion concerning the leading character in the novel. The leading character in the novel was from a rich family who rejected the adult world with false morality and tried to build the healthy spiritual environment to the benefit of children, that is , to be the watcher in the wheat field. This is a symbolic character that expressed the idea of the American writers who keep the humanist stand and reject the materialized civilization.
