摘要
汤因比认为历史主要是由高级宗教决定的。高级宗教在人类文明中起着极为重要的作用 ,但是它在发展过程中由于受到统一帝国的迫害以及哲学的冲击逐渐偏离其中心 ,并在宗教制度偶像化中失去了民众的信仰。近代西方世界用技术取代了原有的宗教 ,同时也使人类由高尚的精神追求转向物质追求 ,从而产生了人类现代文明的困境。
In Toybee's opinion, religion had a decisive influence on human history. It is quite true that higher religion is important to human civilization. However, due to persecution of oecumenical countries, impact of philosophy and idolization of churches, higher religion diverged its doctrines and lost the masses. In the modern time, technique replaced religion.Thus, human being is put into a dilemma which needs to be resolved by resuming higher religion.
