摘要
汉代的雷州半岛是汉族和少数民族的聚居之地,是当时闻名全国的采珠业和商贸业十分发达的地方,也是海外交通和对外交往十分频繁的地方,其政治经济地位非常重要。两汉朝臣因获罪而流放合浦,实开唐宋名贤谪迁雷州半岛之先河。雷州半岛扼琼州海峡的咽喉,不仅是汉朝控制海南岛的关键所在,而且是汉朝对交趾等地实施有效管辖的关键所在,其战略地位亦十分重要。
On the south China coast, the Leizhou Peninsula played an important role in the Han dynasty. The peninsula, where many minorities lived, was very famous for pearl-fishery, and for its strategic location at that time. The importance of the Peninsula in China's overseas trade during the Han period has recently been attested by some archaeologists.
