In this paper, based on the analysis of possible limitation of u si ng LS estimation predicting forest volume, the ridge estimate is put forward. Me anwhile, by means of the method that makes the deviation of the total predicting volume minimum, the ridge parameter is obtained through computer simulation. Th e real example indicates that when there are some multi-collinearities between the RS and GIS information that effecting volume estimation, ridge estimate is p rior to LS estimate in forest volume predicting.
