Active control of vibration has been the subject of a lot of research in recent years. However, the popular filtered x LMS algorithm is limited to linear control problems. A fuzzy system based control structure and adaptive algorithm is presented in this paper. This nonlinear adaptive filter is capable of suppressing a primary disturbance, which is a nonlinear function of the reference signal fed to the filter. The simulation results show that the nonlinear fuzzy adaptive control method performs better than linear filtered x LMS method for a nonlinear control problem.
