In this paper, the transient response of structures is approximated using the B spline function and the weighted residuals technique to generate the direct integration algorithms of multi-steps form as well as single-step form. A detailed analysis of the algorithm using the third, order B spline is given and a pscheme with approprite characteristics is recommended.
