The writing theory between 1900 and 1919 consists of two parts: the rising theories and the traditional theories. It was clearly marked with the characteristics of the times: 1. It was caught in the conflict of a transitional period from the old to the new. Thus the two parts of the theory both repelled each other and blended with each other. 2.It showed a strong pragmatism balancing between promoting the social revolution and maintaining the feudal rule. 3. It was highly sophisticated and systematic.Integrating the writing theories of all schools into a new system while carrying on the worthy of the past and forging ahead into the future,it paved the way for the development of the Chinese writing theory in 20th century.
