With the rapid development of the science and technology of artificial intelligence, many methods stemmed from the biologically-motivated information processing systems, such as neural networks, evolutionary algorithms, have attracted great interests in power system applications.Recently, immune-based feedback laws have been investigated for the design of control systems.This paper presents a systematic introduction to the fundamental principles of immune systems.Mathematical models of immune systems are proposed with the intention for their applications in power system voltage regulation.In the paper, an example of power system installed with a STATCOM is presented, where STATCOM control is designed based on the immune system modeling.
