By PCR RFLPs the present paper analysed the gene frequency of the RYR1 gene in purebred and crossbreeding swine populations in Shandong province. In the purebred populations, gene frequency of n gene in Pietrain was the highest(100%),in Landrace-11 44% and Yorkshire-6 68%.No n gene was detected in Duroc or Hampshire pigs.In the crossbreeding swine populations, the frequency of the n gene in Duroc ×Pietrain was 50%,Landrace×Yorkshire -10 62%, Yorkshire×Landrace-7 86%.The F 2 offspring population of Yorkshire×Landrace crossed with Landrace×Yorkshire-1 31%,Duroc×Hampshire-0 and Hampshire×Duroc-0.By least square statistical analysis little effect of RYR1 gene on the body weight at 20 days and at 60 days (P>0 05) was proved. But the RYR1 n gene increased the daily gain significantly (P<0 05),it increase the rate of lean carcass and decrease the value of meat color (P<0 01) as well. The values of least square mean of the NN,Nn,nn genotypes on the rate of lean carcass and meat color were 64 00%,66 87%,67 87% and 2 73,2 57,2 02,respectively.In terms of reproduction traits, the RYR1 gene had little effect on the piglet's body weight at birth, but significantly decrease the dam's litter size (P<0 05).The effect of NN,Nn,nn genotypes on litter size were 11 16,10 00 and 8 26,respectively.
