In the coal field of Liguo Coal Mine, Yancheng City Coal Administration Bureau, there were very serious magma inrushes which caused the main mining seam (№. 7 Seam) to have serious deformation and quality changes. The coal seam became sectional seam and the coal turned into natural coke. After the coal in the seam changed into coke, the conventional coal mining method could not be applied to the coke mining.Through a long practice of such coke mining, Liguo Coal Mine has developed a special mining method——Feather Type Exploration and Mining Method for the sectional coke seam. This method is a combination of exploration and mining. It is first to develop feather type roadway to search sectional seams in magma inrush areas. When a mining sectional seam is searched, feather roadways are developed in the seam for mining. The author has made a detailed introduction on the roadway arrangement, mining method and economic benefits from the feather type exploration and mining method.
