Introduces the origin and development of four angles number(FAN) indexing system, compares the differences between the new FAN and the old one, and points out that FAN indexing system for Chinese characters has been applying extensively to book publishing and library professional work. In the end, introduces the process of the research of FAN computer word frequency import code carried out by Zhejiang Library and Xixi Library of Zhejiang University.
