The baseline of the pit bottom has reached 346m level in Nanfen Surface Mine. As required by the design of mine innovation, the ore haulage system at the 290 level adit should be decommissioned and a new transportation system should be installed. In that case, an additional 20 million yuan transportation expense will be incurred annually. In order to cut transportation cost, a feasibility study is carried out with regard to prolonging the service life of the 290 level adit. Research projects include geological survey, support technology and surface mining. The research results show that it is feasible to extend the service life of the tunnel.
