Factors that caused secondary air leakage in the boiler of Harbine No.3 Power Generating Co. Ltd.'s 600MW set are analytically discussed, with the conclusion that the expansionary positions were net designed appropriately and a wrong type of expansion joint had been chosen. Operation get satisfactory after the design has been redone and the expansion joint exchanged for a non metallic one. Figs 2 and refs 2
