The coaction of leathery seed coat and endohormone of eggplant seed leads to the seed dormancy and so affect severely the germination of seed.It was reported that soaking seeds with GA 3 solution could break the dormancy of eggplant seeds.Therefore,the effects of different concentrations of GA 3 solutions,treatment modes,seed storage times after treatments on the germination of eggplant seed was studied.The results showed that soaking seeds in 600mg/L GA 3 solution for 12h has significant effects on promoting rapid germination and enhancing seed vitality,besides,the good physiological effects along with relatively fine appearance of commercial seeds will remain even within 6 months storage after treatment.
