在过去的 20多年里，美国风景园林大师乔治·哈格里夫斯 (George Hargreaves)在自然的物质性和人的内心世界深处之间架起了一座桥梁，从而使我们对风景的精神有了更为深刻的认识。他所设计的、场所特有的、充满诗意的风景充满了各种各样的互动性和隐喻，使我们惊醒并深受感动。本文介绍了哈格里夫斯教授杰出的成就，并探讨了他的设计思想——源于自然之力和文化脉络，比如，自然但不貌似自然，环境剧场，开放式的构图和叙述性的比喻。此外，本文还对哈格里夫斯教授的五个代表作品做了较为详细的分析。
In the past more than 20 years, American master George Hargreaves has bridged between natural physicality and human's inner world and provided a better understanding of the spirit of landscape. His site－ specific, poetic landscapes with varied interactivities and metaphors have awaken us and touched our hearts. This paper introduces Prof. Hargreaves's outstanding achievements and examines his design philosophy based on natural force as well as cultural context, such as natural but not natural－ looking, theater of environment, open－ ended landscape composition and narrative allusion. Besides five of his representative projects are analysized in detail.
