It is always necessary to reduce the particle sizes in raw materials (whether ceramic composites or superhard materials)to 100μm and to separate the microparticles in order to make the sizes uniform, Generally, microparticles are classified by sedimentation or overflow. The key to the technolog is to use a reliable formula for calculation. According to the principles of particle dynamics, a theoretical formula is developed in this paper. This new formula is suitable for use over a wider range than Stokes' law can be applied to because it conforms to the Jaw of motion of multisized angular particles, whereas Stokes' law can be applied only to small spherical particles.
