摘要
马克思恩格斯对读者负责的思想与实践不仅是马克思恩格斯编辑出版思想的一个重要方面，对于指导我们今天的编辑出版工作也具有现实意义。纵观马克思恩格斯的一生，他们的各项活动都是围绕着为全人类谋幸福这一主题而展开的，在有关著述和出版活动中，就具体化为对读者负责。对读者负责的首要一条就是要为广大读者奉献优秀的精神食粮。著述不能草率，要精雕细刻；认真校对，对于有校对印刷错误的书刊要在适当的机会及时更正；出版物在译成外文时要选择称职的译者；要尽最大努力将出版物及时送到读者手中。马克思恩格斯不仅对待自己著作的出版问题严肃认真，一丝不苟，还对当时有影响的著作高屋建瓴地发表评论，以指导读者阅读。马克思恩格斯非常重视作品的易读性，总是在写作时采用最易为广大读者接受的手法，照顾到读者的阅读理解习惯；要求出版物对读者有所教益。
The thought and practice of holding yourselves responsi ble for readers are an important aspect of Marx Engels' editing and publishing thought, and they are realistically significant to guide us. Given a broad overv iew of their life, all kinds of activities they had engaged in surrounded the su bject of the happiness of mankind. In the related activities of writing and publ ishing, they were responsible for readers. The most important of all, excellent spi ritual food is offered to reading public. Writing should be alone with great car e, proofreading with greater care. As to the publications' printing errors found after proofreading, corrections should be made timely on a suitable occasion. P ublications should be translated into foreign languages by qualified translators . Publications should be timely delivered to reading public. Marx and Engels not only took their own publishing problems seriously and were scrupulous about eve ry detail, but also commented on noted works at a higher angle to guide our work . Because they attached great importance to writing's legibility, they had been using the most acceptable methods to write and showed consideration for reader's reading habits. They thought publications should be instructive.
