This paper briefly overviews the history of converter steelmaking technology and discusses some important steelmaking technologies in detail, including hot metal pretreatment, basic converter operation processes & steel quality, computer control for steelmaking, combined top and bottom blowing process, slag splashing and combined blowing with long campaign, converter steelmaking with energy saving or minus energy consumption. Finally, this paper gives expectations on the development tendency of converter steelmaking technology in the 21 the century.
