The effects of Na-montmorillonite (Na-Mt)particles on oil-water separation and the interracial properties of simulated produced water from polymer/surfactant flooding were investigated. And the stability mechanism was analyzed through measuring the zeta potential,oil-water interfacial tension and dilational viscoelasticity. The results showed that when the concentrations of polymer and surfactant were constant, with increasing of Na-Mt particle concentration, the stability of the produced water enhanced with decreasing the zeta potential and interfacial tension and increasing the dilational viscoelasticity; When the concentration of Na-Mt particle was 150 mg/L, the stability was the strongest and the produced water was most difficult to deal with; As the concentration of Na-Mt particles in- creased, the emulsion weakened with decreasing dilational viscoelasticity and increasing interfacial tension, and could contribute to the treatment of produced water; When the concentration of Na-Mt particles was constant, with the increase of polymer and surfactant con- centration, the emulsion stability enhanced with decreasing the zeta potential and interfacial tension and increasing the dilational vis- coelasticity, which made it more difficult to treat the produced water.
