摘要
地球两极地理位置特殊，具有极其重要战略地位；极地资源丰富，蕴藏了石油、金属矿、渔业、淡水等资源；北极航道极具经济价值，受到世界各国的广泛重视。极地测绘是开展两极地区研究、监测、建设等活动的前提条件。由于地理位置特殊，有许多适用于低纬度地区的测绘技术方法并不完全适合两极地区，因此，有必要对两极地区测绘开展研究和规划。本文阐述了两极地区基本情况和发展意义，分析了极地测绘的重要性，指出了发展极地测绘存在的问题，并给出了发展建议。
Taking up special positions, the polar regions have a profound strategic significance. They are abundant in natural resources, including petroleum, metal mines, fishery, fresh water, etc. The Arctic Passage has enormous economic value and attracts extensive attention of various countries in the world. Surveying and mapping is the precondition for conducting research, monitoring, construction and other development activities in polar regions, and it shows obvious differences compared with those in low latitude areas. Therefore, many technologies and methods used in other low latitude areas can not be applied to the polar regions directly, and it is necessary to make specific research and planning. In this paper, the basic information about the polar regions and the significance of development are discussed, and the importance of conducting surveying and mapping in the regions are analyzed. Finally, difficult problems are raised and appropriate suggestions are put forward.
