A method that models flexible manufacturing systems by using Petri nets is presented in this paper. This method classifies the FMS'physical components into part class and resource class. The object sub\|nets of the two classes are given. The Petri net model of the whole system is obtained through the synchronous synthesis of all of the object sub\|nets.
