Peter Drucker examines in his new book knowledge worker productivity and shows that changes in the basic attitude of individuals and orgnizations as well as structural changes in work itself are needed for increased productivity. He explains that the income in the productivity of the manual worker due to the applications of Taylor s scientific management is the most important contribution of management in the 20 th century.He addresses what people know about knowledge worker productivity and six major factors that determine it.He presents technologist (both a knowledge worker and a manual worker)and examplifies the three elements for making them effective.He sees knowledge worker as a system and shows what the emergence of the knowledge worker and of knowledge-worker productivity means for the governance of the corporation. Drucker emphasises that knowledge worker productivity is the biggest of the 21 st century management challenges. In the developed countries it is their first survival requirement.
