Objective: To investigate the effect of health education on knowledge awareness and medication compliance of diabetic patients. Methods: Totally 190 patients with type 2 diabetes in our hospital were collected from October 2012 to June 2013, and ac- cording to the odd or even consultation date, the patients were randomly divided into the observation group and the control group with 95 cases in each. The observation group was treated with health education intervention additionally, while the control group was treated only by medication instructions, and the diabetes knowledge and compliance were compared between the two groups. Results: Before the intervention, the diabetes knowledge cognition score in the two groups showed no statistical significance( P 〉 0.05 ). After the in- tervention, the diabetes knowledge cognition score in the observation group was higher than that in the control group [ (94.4 +- 5.1 ) vs. (72.3-+ 9.0),P 〈 0.01 ]. The excellent and good rate of diabetes knowledge in the observation group (91~6%) was significantly higher than that in the control group (45.3%) with satistically significant difference( P 〈 0.01 ). The medication compliance in the observation group (86.3%) was significantly higher than that in the control group (40%) with statistically significant difference (P 〈 0.01 ). Conclusion: Diabetes knowledge cognition and medication compliance in the patients with type 2 diabetes is poor, and the health education is helpful to the improvement of the diabetes knowledge awareness and medication compliance.
