Small World, which is not only praised by scholars but also popularized among a wide range of readers, is one of the most successful works by English campus novelist David Lodge. Since it involves various kinds of literary theories, it is both a post-modernist work and a modernist work. However, the author of this paper thinks that it is the post-modern application of "the myth of the model" so-called by T. S. Eliot. Lodge let a group of modern scholars to reappear in the classic story of the medieval Holy Grail legend in this full-length comedy. This article analyzes and studies Small World with a myth-archetype criticism from the title, characters and plot structure to explore the myth of the prototype.
