The advantages of intermediate pressure （IP） cylinder start-up mode of steam turbines were introduced and corresponding correct cylinder switching methods were analyzed and summarized, so as to guarantee the safety and stability of relevant cylinder switching processes and therefore secure the safety of the whole unit.
