Background Obturator nerve block(ONB) can be used to treat hip joint pain and relief adductor muscle spasm, A selective ONB still remains the safest and most effective alternative to suppress the obturator reflex during transurethral resection of bladder tumor on the lateral bladder wall. Its research and application increased in recent years along with the renewed interest in regional anesthesia. Objective To summarize the indications and techniques of ONB for clinical and research reference. Content Indications and different routes of puncture techniques of ONB, including their evaluations, are elucidated in this review. Trend New block methods with more advantages will occur along with the increasing popularity of its application.
