摘要
迄今仍悬而未决的黄岩岛事件虽曾激起不同领域学者的研究热情,但鲜有从媒体报道的角度加以剖析研究的。文章选择有菲律宾第一大报之称、可在相当程度上代表菲主流英文媒体的《菲律宾每日问询者报》作为案例,从新闻传播学和国际关系学相结合的角度,以传播学中两种重要的研究方法——内容分析法和文本分析法——为主要研究方法,从形式特征、内容特征和报道倾向三个方面分析了《问询者报》有关黄岩岛争端的报道,深入挖掘了相关报道中具有理论和实际应用价值、可能引起国际问题学者关注的信息。文章还以新闻专业主义为标准,衡量了有关报道的报道质量。
While the Huangyan Island Incident is the focus of much scholarly research,very few scholars have considered research on related media content.This article advances such research by applying key tools from media studies to analyze media context of the Philippine Daily Inquirer.The Inquirer is referred to as the number one paper in the Philippines and considered largely representative of the country's mainstream English language media.The paper applies context analysis and textual analysis to study the paper's reporting of the controversy over the Huangyan Island.Incorporating perspectives from both Media Studies and International Relations,thispaper analyzes the form,context,and bias of Inquirer reporting.By uncovering theoretical and empirical trends in reporting,this paper aims to generate more scholarly attention to these issues,and assesses the quality of reporting from a professional standpoint.
