The analyses on the affecting factors of pore water pressure during consolidating soft soil foundation, the upper disturbance caused byburying the head of pore water pressure detector, the settlement of the head, the nonlinear characters of soil, the vertical and horizontal consolidation of shallow payer of soil, the suitable location of the head among the plastic plates and the observation accuracy of the detector all were mad e in the paper.
