In Ethics, Theory and the Novel, Professor David Parker analyzes the return of ethical literary criticism. He analyzes the ethical dilemma in five canonical novels and established the link between the ethical view of the writers and the artistic endurance from the perspective of the conflict between Judeo-Christian ethics and Roman Expressivism. The book has revealed the root of the everlasting charm of canons and provided a model of ethical literary criticism. With sound theoretical framework and persuasive argument, the monograph marks the return of canonical literature and the effort scholars made in establishing a new evaluative discourse.
