Improving energy efficiency is all essential component for Ireland＇s sustainable energy policy. Energy efficiency is internationally recognised as the most cost-effective means of reducing dependence on fossil fuels. Energy efficiency is the foundation for moving to a strong green economy in Ireland. Ireland needs to take urgent, well-focused and collective action to move to an efficient and low-carbon energy system. This paper discusses the eco- nomic efficiency savings potential of resident, commerce and industry, government measures to improve energy efficiency in Ireland.
