The continuous advent of new theories, techniques, and equipments vastly complicates equipment management: the special characteristics of new advances will determine which of the already existing can be improved or modified and how , which of the hitherto only theoretical methods can become practical; it is easier to assume that an equipment is at fully normal condition than to do the tedious work necessary to quantitateits precision; carry out timely as well as regular preventive equipment maintenance based on risk assessment; cultivate high level professionals who keep up with the development in this work.
