摘要
严复的"信达雅"译论是中国100多年来最具影响力的传统翻译理论,但在西方译论快速发展的今天却受到很大程度的冲击和挑战,译界对其不同的认识虽有利于中国译论的丰富和发展,但也在一定程度上给中国翻译研究的理论和实践带来了认识上的混乱。对此,文章分析了多位学者对"信达雅"理论的研究情况,考证了"信达雅"在翻译实践中的应用状况,进而结合严复的翻译思想和现代翻译理论,剖析了"信达雅"的原意和现意,指出了"信达雅"在当代翻译理论中的地位和作用。
The Theory of Xin-Da-Ya put forward by Yan Fu has been one of the most significant traditional translation theories for more than one century in China. It has been challenged, to some extent, with the rapid development of the translation theories in the West at present. The attitudes towards Xin-Da-Ya vary from scholar to scholar in the field of translation, which is, on one hand, useful for the advancement of translation studies in China, on the other hand, difficult, to a certain extent, for the Chinese translators to deal with the problems pertaining to the translating norms required in translation. Thus, with the purpose of probing the position and function of Xin-Da-Ya, this paper analyzes some cases performed by translators in the study and practice with regard to Xin-Da-Ya, and discusses the intended and mutated meaning of Xin-Da- Ya based on the discussion of modern translation theories and Yah Fu＇ s thoughts on translation.
