摘要
有关话题标记的实质仍是个存疑的问题。考虑到话题主要是个语用概念,本文从话语功能的角度出发,以真实的口语语料为研究素材,首次明确了话题标记具有双重功能:一方面,话题标记可凸显话题,特别是当话题承载的信息量较大时,话题标记的运用可关照听话人的认知需要;另一方面,当述题部分比较难以处理时,话题标记的运用又可为说话人赢得时间,从而关照说话人自己的认知诉求。因此话题标记的实质是为实时信息处理服务,从这一意义上讲,世界上各种语言虽然类型不同,却有共通之处。
The essence of topic marking remains an unsettled issue in the linguistics circle. Given that topic is primarily a pragmatic notion, this paper starts from its discourse use. After ob serving how topic markers are used in two spoken corpora, the paper concludes that topic marking has a double function to fulfill. On one hand, it gives prominence to topic and helps ease the task on the part of the listener, especially when the topic expression conveys a heavy load of information. On the other hand, when the comment expression is hard to come up with, topic marking can secure time for the speaker to do online organization. Therefore, the essence of topic marking is to facilitate realtime information processing, in which respect world languages are more similar than different re gardless of typology.
