Among the studies on Virginia Woolf' s first novel The Voyage Out are those either from the aspect of colonization or from that of nature. However, in light of postcolonial ecocriti- cism,it can be found that in this novel, the journey narrative functions to intertwine anthropocentrism with Occidentalism, both being branded with domination and hegemony. The process of the journey keeps pace with the presentation of the effect of the double logic as well as the growth and death of the protago- nist. The logic of domination exerts a powerful hold on the Eng- lish toursits' attitudes toward nature and local people, for which Woolf also undertakes certain critical review.
