If calcium carbide is mixed with soil sample, chemical reaction will take place immediately and gas acetylene will be produced. Then the weight of the mixture will decrease. By measuring the loss of weight, the moisture content of soil sample can be determined exactly and quickly. This new method can meet various indoor and site test requirements .
