More than 70% of the toys in the global market were made in China by 2012, and nearly 90% of the made-in-China toys were exported to overseas markets. As the impact of the global financial woes faded away gradually, the Chinese toy industry is expected to restart its boom. According to a survey by the NPD Group, the global sales of toys were expected to rise to over USD 850m. The U.S. would be the greatest market, of which the sales would be over USD 220m. Asia would grow by 9.2%. For China, the demand from the emerging markets, such as ASEAN, the Middle East and South America, is growing remarkably. Meanwhile, there will be the fourth wave of Baby Boom in China during its 12th Five- year Plan. More babies will lead to a greater market. The Chinese toy manufacturers may prefer domestic market to the overseas ones. All those factors will boost the Chinese toy exports. But it will still be hard for the Chinese firms to grow into leading powers in the competitive market. Many of these firms have relied on OEM businesses for so long that they still lack the ability to build their own brands. To grab more market shares, they will have to develop more innovation ideas and improve their technologies. │IC图
