摘要
班固在《史记》基础上,直接把孟子说成是子思的弟子,确定《孟子》为十一篇。班固明确反对司马迁对孟子"迂远而阔于事情"的评价,认为孟子较时人眼光长远。他还发挥了孟子的君权"天与之"说,对《孟子》史料与文句进行处理:或完全照搬《史记》,或略作概括和改动、用其大意,或直接用其材料作史料。
Based on Shih Chi （The Historical Records）, Ban Gu considers directly that Mencius is a student of Zi Si＇ s, so Mencius includes 11 articles. Ban Gu opposes obviously Si Maqian＇ s comment on Mencius, namely ＂the doctrine with pedantry and empty talk beyond the reality＂ , and thinks that Mencius has a profound view. He develops Mencius view that the power to an emperor is given by the heaven, copying words from historical materials and sentences in Shih Chi. or handling selectivelv historical data and language in Mencius.
