Trust and integrity,as interpreted by classical social theorists, are the self-evident elements that determine whether a society is harmonious or not.In China, trust and integrity have become one of the focuses of public attention.People cast a questioning eye on almost everything: food, utensil, medicine, entertainment, and even the social institutions and the credibility of government officials. This phenomenon indicates that China is already a'risk-loaded society',and its society is in the midst of a'confidence crisis'.The three authors of this discussion proceed from different perspectives to examine issues concerning trust, credibility,as well as integrity.Fan Ke discusses the concepts of trust and credit, and other issues of power and trust, and points out that the trust issue can be attributed to social transformation, but more importantly,to power itself.Shao Jing analyzes integrity issues from the linguistic point of view, and explains that in social and political situations relevant to people's daily life, untrustworthy promises have led to integrity issues, and the current integrity discourse actually reflects the lack of credibility of power in front of the public.Zhao Xudong and Wang Shasha coauthor the article in which they discuss the problem of food trust, claiming that Chinese people's food trust is not entirely in line with the standard of Western social science. When one considers the trust in food, the traditional differential pattern has a profound impact.Such discussions not only contribute to the improvement of academic understanding of social problems, but also constructive to the building of harmonious society and cultural development in a dramatically changing Chinese society.
