摘要
杨宪益英译本《红楼梦》使用了6种不同的英文称谓语来翻译同一个中文称谓"老太太",这种语言的选择不是随意而为,而是基于交际语境和语言语境的礼貌顺应。从顺应理论的视角研究礼貌,将有助于更全面地阐释翻译中的礼貌现象,从而对翻译理论研究和实践产生一定的指导意义。
Six different addressing terms are adopted to translate the same Chinese appellation ＂the old lady＂ in Yang Xianyi＇s version of A Dream of Red Mansions in conformity with politeness adaptation to communicative contexts and linguistic contexts. A study of politeness from the perspective of adaptation theory will help to explain more thoroughly the politeness phenomenon in translation, which is expected to throw some light on translation theories study and practice.
