Various measures of reducing the silicon content in pig iron have been taken in Laiwu 2# blast furnace (1880 m3) in an attempt to reduce coke rate and fuel ratio. Practically both coke rate and fuel ratio are reduced close to 10 kg, and the purpose of reducing iron consumption per ton steel is achieved.
