The paper present instability calculation results of symetrically arranged gliding bearing rotor gear coupling systems, which show that the angular rigidity of a gear coupling has a marked effect on the speed at which the system gets unstable, while its intrinsic damping propecty has a smaller effect in case of well performed centering and abundant lubrication.
