The scientific development and technological progress of chemical separation engineering have been briefly reviewed. The separation engineering came into being because of the needs of industries. The variety of industrial separation requirements makes a continuous development of separation engineering. The progress of separation engineering accelerates the developing of chemical industry and relatives. Novel separation technology will take its position in the research and application of Hi-Tech science.
